The artistic factory of Kholuy is a world-re-
nowned brand. More than 80 years the enter-
prise has produced miniature lacquer paint-
ing products. For so many years the technique
of the folk artistic craft items productions has
not suffered any changes. The basis of the
artistic practice of the factory is the richest
traditions of papier-mache miniature lacquer
painting and the previous creative experience
of the craftsmen of icon-painting of Kholuy.
The main traditional techniques are the fol-
lows:
• all articles are produced by hands only;
• artificial and ornamental compositions are
used in the articles decorating;
• traditions of icon-painting with temperas
dissolved in egg yolk are followed in the im-
aging;
• ways of decoration on the base of gold leaf
and gold paint are used, the old way of the
application of paints by thin layers are used;
• sequence of works (priming, painting, pro-
tection with lacquer) is preserved.
Alongside with epic and fairy subjects of the
painting, the craftsmen image compositions,
reflecting modern life.
Each article has a protective trademark and a
certificate that guarantee the quality and du-
rability. It is an obvious advantage over many
infringing goods of this area.
